About MarcellSings

For close to 60 years Marcell has established himself as a household name when it comes to black male vocalists in nova scotia, and beyond. With a gospel background, Marcell brings a very distinguished crooning style of singing, smooth, vibratic, soft, soulful, captivating audiences wherever he performs. Recognizing his passion for singing at an early age his parents, the late rev. and Mrs. Carole Symonds enrolled him into the maritime conservatory of music at the age of 8 where  he studied and received his degree in voice honours.
 

History of MarcellSings

1977-Auditioned and selected to represent nova scotia as part of a canadian contingent, marcell performed in the motherland, lagos, nigeria, africa, for  f.E.S.T.A.C  ’77 (festival of arts and culture)
1977-1982: unlimited invitations to entertain as a soloist or lead vocalist for a number of dance bands
1982-1992: joined the canadian armed forces which opened doors for singing engagements on bases across canada as well as european countries.
1990-2Nd place atlantic vocal compettition
1991-1st place atlantic vocal competition
1992-1st place atlantic talent search
1992-1st place esso talent show
1992-1st place maritime karaoke championships
1991-1993: auditioned and selected to perform the canadian and american national anthems for halifax’s original professional basketball team, the halifax windjammers
numerous annual performances for the i.W.K. Telethon,
numerous annual performances @ the i.W.K tree lighting ceremonies
wrote and recorded the song “precious children” for the i.W.K
throughout the 90’s performed the canadian/american anthem for the halifax mooseheads hockey franchise. 
Special guest anthem singer (canadian and american) for the n.H.L. Game between the montreal canadians and the boston bruins in 2008.
Recorded over 20 radio jingles for companies such as sobeys, clovergroup, bayers rd shopping centre, honda, atlantic acura, etc.
Lead vocalist for 90’s bands such as: the fortunes, the jammer band, shakedown, soul relations, east coast posse 
praise team leader for cornwallis street baptist church 2006-2013

2014 release of gospel cd: ‘‘just a closer walk”
as a nova scotia original black male vocalist marcell’s longevity in the music industry demonstrates that he is a trendsetter, a musical pioneer providing black musical histiry and heritage,
